On July 3rd (local time on July 2nd), German semiconductor giant Infineon Technologies AG announced the grand opening of its state-of-the-art power semiconductor factory, the Smart Power Fab, in Dresden. This cutting-edge facility, representing Infineon’s largest-ever single investment at €5 billion and one of Germany’s most significant investment projects in recent memory, has commenced production several months ahead of the originally planned schedule. The new factory is set to double the production capacity of Infineon’s Dresden site and generate 1,000 direct employment opportunities. The semiconductors manufactured here will play a pivotal role in powering AI data centers, renewable energy systems, power grids, and autonomous vehicles.
