Our reporters have learned from Xidian University that a research team, led by Professor Peng Biaolin from the university and in collaboration with Guangzhou Zengxin Technology Co., Ltd., has successfully developed the world's first 12-inch lead zirconate titanate (PZT) piezoelectric thin film. This breakthrough not only shatters foreign technological monopolies but also signifies a major advancement for China in the core material sectors of inkjet printheads and intelligent sensors.
As a core power source, PZT piezoelectric thin film is characterized by its ultra-high piezoelectric coefficients and outstanding electromechanical conversion efficiency. These properties enable precise droplet control, high-frequency stable inkjet performance, low power consumption, and extended service life. Previously, the industry predominantly relied on small-size wafer fabrication, which was plagued by high costs and low yields. This new breakthrough tackles the issue of film cracking during high-temperature crystallization by lowering the crystallization temperature to approximately 350°C. Tests have confirmed that the film meets international standards for high-end device applications and fulfills the stringent requirements of industrial-grade inkjet printheads.
As a core functional material, PZT piezoelectric thin film boasts a market potential in the trillions of yuan and finds wide application in areas such as micro-speakers and ultrasonic imaging equipment. It provides robust technical support for the miniaturization and high-precision development of industries including healthcare and consumer electronics.
