Omdia predicts that the semiconductor market will continue to grow in the second quarter, but the growth rate may slow to just over 20%. Data from the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics organization shows that the global semiconductor market size reached $299 billion in the first quarter, up 25% quarter-over-quarter and 79% year-over-year, primarily driven by the artificial intelligence industry. Additionally, prices of compound semiconductor materials have risen across the board, with some varieties surging by over 200% within the year.
