On June 29, news emerged that Samsung Electro-Mechanics is currently engaged in the final stages of negotiations with a major U.S. tech company regarding a supply contract for AI server MLCCs (Multi-layer Ceramic Capacitors). This contract is estimated to be worth around 500 billion won, constituting 10% of the revenue generated by its component division in the previous year.
Moreover, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is set to ink a joint venture agreement with Japan's Sumitomo Chemical this week. The two parties will jointly invest a total of 500 billion won in this venture. Specifically, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will contribute 300 billion won and hold a controlling stake. The joint venture will focus on establishing a glass substrate production facility in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. Production at this new facility is anticipated to kick off in the early part of next year.
