On June 26, technology website 9to5mac reported that Sumit Sadana, Chief Business Officer of Micron Technology, hinted that Apple Inc. bears some responsibility for the current tight memory supply. Sadana stated that during the previous downturn in the memory market, Micron's gross profit margin once turned negative, partly due to certain customers taking advantage of the situation to procure at extremely low prices, which suppressed capital investment and led to a halt in industry investments. Apple is known for its aggressive price-cutting tactics, and while its long-term procurement agreements can delay price increases, they may also lead to an unsustainable pricing environment and weaken the industry's motivation to invest in capacity expansion.
