On June 25, 2026, Qualcomm hosted an Investor Day event in New York, where it made a significant announcement: its entry into the data center server market, marked by the launch of its inaugural CPU tailored for this sector—the Dragonfly C1000. Specifically engineered for Agentic AI applications, this chip achieves an optimal equilibrium between high-performance computing capabilities and exceptionally low power consumption. Mass production is slated to commence in the latter half of 2028. Meta is set to be among the pioneering adopters of this chip, with the two companies having forged a long-term supply partnership.
Qualcomm also unveiled a comprehensive product roadmap for data centers, encompassing the Dragonfly series of CPUs, a new generation of dedicated AI acceleration chips, and multi-chip high-speed interconnection solutions. Moreover, Qualcomm declared its intention to acquire AI software firm Modular for an estimated $3.9 billion, aiming to bolster its software ecosystem.
