Recently, the Supreme People’s Court delivered a ruling on the review of a preliminary injunction application, affirming the decision of the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court. The court’s judgment prohibits the sale, offering for sale, and importation of Infineon’s related gallium nitride (GaN) products within China, while also rejecting all of Infineon’s appeals for reconsideration. This ruling effectively brings an end to this cross-border semiconductor patent dispute in the Chinese market.

The case traces its origins back to early 2025, when Innoscience initiated legal proceedings against Infineon’s Chinese subsidiary and agents, alleging infringement of two of its core GaN invention patents. On May 27, 2026, the Suzhou Intermediate People’s Court issued its first-instance ruling, finding Infineon guilty of infringement. The court ordered an immediate halt to the infringing activities and mandated that Infineon compensate Innoscience with 10 million yuan. Infineon disagreed with the verdict and subsequently applied for reconsideration. However, on June 12, the Supreme People’s Court upheld the original judgment, with the injunction taking immediate effect.
