On June 11, the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) unveiled its most recent Global Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics Report. According to the report, in the first quarter of 2026, global sales of semiconductor equipment soared to $36.55 billion, marking a 1% increase from the previous quarter and a significant 14% rise year-on-year, thus achieving an all-time high for a single quarter.
In terms of regional performance, South Korea outpaced Taiwan (China) to secure the second spot globally. SEMI highlighted that during the first quarter, the semiconductor equipment market continued to reap the benefits of the artificial intelligence investment surge. Semiconductor companies across the globe ramped up production and accelerated technological advancements. These investments were predominantly focused on advanced logic processes, dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), and advanced packaging sectors, fueling the steady growth of the equipment market.
