On June 11, chip equipment manufacturer ASML (ASML.O) revealed, following negotiations with Dutch trade unions, that the actual scale of layoffs will be smaller than initially anticipated. The layoffs are projected to commence after May 1 of the following year. A spokesperson for the trade union mentioned that employees will be notified next month regarding the impact on their positions, following consultations with the works council. Diederik Bonarius, representing the De Unie trade union, disclosed that affected employees will have until May 2027 to secure new employment, with severance packages reaching up to 400,000 euros. An ASML spokesperson clarified that the final tally of layoffs will be confirmed post-completion of the process, emphasizing the company's commitment to minimizing the number of affected staff. Earlier this year, in January, ASML had announced its intention to lay off roughly 1,700 employees, constituting 4% of its total workforce.
