On June 9, 2026, Apple announced macOS 27, codenamed Golden Gate, at WWDC 2026. This system will only support Mac devices with M1 or higher Apple Silicon chips, completely ending support for Intel architecture, and becoming the last macOS version to retain the Rosetta 2 translation functionality. Starting from the next version, Rosetta 2 will retain only some core capabilities to support older games that rely on the Intel framework and are no longer maintained. macOS 27 also introduces a "pull-to-refresh" gesture, upgrades the iPhone mirroring feature, and improves the AirPods settings interface.
