On June 10, the latest report from TrendForce showed that in the DRAM market, there is strong demand for DDR5, while the supply of DDR4 is tight and prices are high. As a result, some buyers have shifted to DDR3, driving up its prices. In terms of NAND flash memory, although spot prices stabilized after the contract prices rose in the second quarter of 2026, overall trading remained sluggish. The price hikes of memory chips are primarily due to a surge in demand from the AI industry, leading to an imbalance between supply and demand. The production capacity of high-end DRAM has been occupied by AI data centers, and consumer electronics manufacturers such as those for mobile phones and PCs are facing cost pressures, forcing them to raise prices or adjust product configurations. It is expected that global smartphone production will decline by more than 16% in 2026, and PC shipments may drop by 11.3% year-on-year.
