Recently, Apple rolled out the macOS 27 beta, internally codenamed 'Golden Gate,' to its developer community. Unfortunately, this update has inadvertently triggered system boot failures on certain Apple Silicon devices that are running Asahi Linux. The Asahi Linux development team has responded by issuing a clear warning to users who have installed their system, urging them to refrain from upgrading to the macOS 27 beta to prevent potential boot issues on their devices.
The root cause of this compatibility problem lies in a clash between the firmware update mechanism introduced in the new macOS version and Asahi Linux's bootloader. This conflict could potentially result in devices being unable to access any operating system interface following the installation of the beta.
At present, the Asahi Linux project team is actively working in tandem with the Apple developer community to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue. In the meantime, they recommend that affected users restore their devices using DFU mode or exercise patience and await a forthcoming fix.
