On May 28, foreign media reported that at the request of Samsung Electronics, South Korean chemical company PKC will invest tens of billions of won to expand the capacity of high-purity chlorine gas for semiconductors at its Gunsan plant by 50%, increasing the annual production capacity to 2,100–2,200 tons.
