On May 26, a research report released by CICC highlighted that, driven by the escalating demand and accelerated speeds in optical communications, passive optical devices are gaining prominence. Consequently, optical manufacturers are pivoting from the consumer electronics realm to the optical communications sector. CICC asserts that the core technologies and large-scale, highly dependable production capacities of these manufacturers are adaptable, providing them with the opportunity to carve out new avenues for growth.
In the long run, optical manufacturers have amassed extensive expertise in technologies such as ultra-precision cold processing, molding, and coating within high-volume markets like consumer electronics and automotive applications. This is coupled with mass production capabilities characterized by high yields and reliability. Presently, numerous manufacturers have ventured into products such as optical communication microlens arrays, V-groove FAU, and optical modules, actively tapping into the incremental demand in the pluggable market. They are also strategically positioning themselves in domains like CPO and OCS, which are anticipated to serve as fresh catalysts for growth for these companies.
