On May 21, Bloomberg reported that Samsung Electronics had clinched a last-minute deal with its labor union, thereby averting a potential strike. The union, which had initially planned to walk out from May 21 to June 7, has decided to temporarily hold off on this action. Under the terms of the agreement, Samsung is poised to distribute bonuses totaling approximately 40 trillion Korean won (equivalent to about 181 billion yuan) for the year 2026 to its chip division employees, with each worker receiving an average bonus of around 2.32 million yuan.
