Linux founder Linus Torvalds has released the 7.1-rc1 kernel version and closed the merge window. The new version introduces a brand-new NTFS driver that supports full write capabilities and offers a 35%–110% performance boost, with large-capacity hard drive mounting speeds up to four times faster. Meanwhile, support for the i486 processor has been removed. The update also adds support for 12 new SoCs, the Lenovo Legion Go handheld gaming console, and Intel graphics cards, while incorporating NVIDIA GA100 accelerator support in Nouveau. The stable version is expected to be released in mid-to-late June.
