On April 16, at a legal conference, Wei Zhejia, the Chairman of TSMC, addressed inquiries regarding the competitive landscape ushered in by Terafab's partnership with Intel. He pointed out that although Intel and Tesla are valued clients of TSMC, they simultaneously stand as formidable competitors in the market. Wei Zhejia underscored the notion that there are no shortcuts when it comes to expanding production capacity. He elaborated that constructing a brand-new chip factory is a time-intensive endeavor, typically spanning 2-3 years, while augmenting production capacity further necessitates an additional 1-2 years. This, he emphasized, is an immutable tenet within the semiconductor industry, and TSMC remains steadfast in its confidence regarding its technological prowess.
