The South Korean Ministry of Finance announced on Thursday that in response to the global rise in DRAM semiconductor prices, it will enhance the reuse of old computers in public institutions and expand support for vulnerable groups. This move aims to stabilize consumer prices, as DRAM, widely used in desktops and laptops, has seen a significant price increase. The government plans to increase the proportion of devices donated free of charge, promote equipment reuse, and encourage local governments to more actively utilize these devices in projects to support vulnerable groups. Meanwhile, the government will also expand a subsidy program for low-income students to purchase personal computers through supplementary budgets.
