Triggered by the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, crude oil prices have witnessed a notable uptick. In response, South Korea's Kumho Petrochemical and Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical have issued notifications to South Korean semiconductor equipment firms, announcing impending price hikes for engineering plastics (EP). These increases are projected to range between 5% and 20%. Engineering plastics, which constitute 10% to 20% of the production costs associated with semiconductor equipment, are derived from crude oil and are renowned for their heat and impact resistance. They are predominantly utilized for precision machining tasks within semiconductor manufacturing processes.
