On March 25th, it was reported that the tightening supply of CPUs produced by Intel and AMD has intensified, exerting greater pressure on PC and server manufacturers already affected by the shortage of memory chips. According to sources familiar with the matter, since the end of February, top PC manufacturers such as HP and Dell have noticed a significant gap between the quantity of CPUs they need and the quantity they can actually obtain, with the current situation being more severe than several months ago. Industry executives and managers indicate that the supply tightness has led to extended lead times and price increases for CPUs in servers and PCs, with expectations that the situation will further deteriorate in the coming months. According to multiple sources, CPU quotes have been raised multiple times this year, with average increases ranging from 10% to 15%, and some increases being even higher. Intel and AMD have recently notified customers that they will raise prices across their entire CPU lines starting from March and April, respectively. A sales executive stated that the average delivery lead time for CPUs, previously around one to two weeks, has now extended to eight to twelve weeks, and in some cases, even up to six months.
