As reported by Yonhap News Agency on March 18, more than 66,000 union members at Samsung Electronics took part in a vote, and a striking 93.1% of them supported a potential strike. Barring any major developments, the strike is scheduled to kick off in full force from May 21 to June 7. Given Samsung Electronics' prominent position as a leading global producer of memory chips, a strike there has the potential to worsen the already-existing global shortage of semiconductors, thereby affecting a wide range of industries, including automotive, computer, and smartphone manufacturing.
