At the 2026 Mobile World Congress (MWC), Fujitsu, teaming up with network equipment provider 1FINITY, exhibited the wafer and engineering prototypes of its cutting-edge 'MONAKA' CPU. MONAKA represents the next iteration following Fujitsu's A64FX processor, and it is crafted utilizing TSMC's state-of-the-art 2nm manufacturing process. This processor is notable for its 144 cores, its compatibility with dual-socket setups, and its integration of 12-channel DDR5 memory alongside PCIe 6.0 interfaces. Moreover, it supports confidential computing, enhancing data security. MONAKA employs a 3D chipset design, where CPU cores are layered atop SRAM, while the I/O chip is produced using a 5nm process. The processor is set to be released in the fiscal year 2027, positioning itself as a formidable rival to processors like Intel Xeon and AMD EPYC, and catering to the rigorous requirements of data centers and high-performance computing environments.
