On November 4, 2025, the Shaanxi Optoelectronics Pilot Institute marked a significant milestone by announcing the official launch of its 8-inch silicon photonics pilot platform. This platform, which operates in tandem with the existing 6-inch compound semiconductor platform, represents a dual pilot-scale setup, backed by a cumulative investment of 1.5 billion yuan. Notably, the institute's 'Photonic Integration Industry Pilot Platform' has been recognized as one of the inaugural national-level manufacturing industry pilot platforms. With a client base exceeding 100, the platform has effectively broken through the bottleneck in pilot-scale production of photonic chips, paving the way for the establishment of a photonic industry cluster worth 100 billion yuan.
