Due to the persistent surge in NAND prices and constrained supply, Phison Electronics—the global frontrunner in SSD controller chips—has issued a notice to its customers. The notice mandates that future orders must be settled through prepayment or feature shortened payment cycles, effectively nullifying the prior credit period that exceeded three months. Phison explained that this decision stems from similar prepayment demands imposed on them by upstream NAND suppliers. In a bid to safeguard production capacity and fulfill customer orders, Phison finds itself compelled to transfer the resultant capital strain down the supply chain.
