SK Hynix Chairman Promises to Increase Production of AI Memory Chips

SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won has pledged to expand production of artificial intelligence memory chips to meet the soaring global demand for data center construction. He referred to high-bandwidth memory chips as 'monster chips' that have brought huge profits to SK Hynix. Over the past year, the chipmaker's stock price has more than quadrupled due to record earnings. Although he did not specify the scale of the production expansion, SK Hynix stated in January that its capital expenditures in 2026 would significantly increase compared to last year to meet the demand for HBM chips.
