As the industry is about to welcome the deployment of PCI Express 6.0 devices, the Linux kernel community has already started early support preparations for the next-generation PCI Express 7.0 standard. PCI-SIG plans to officially release the PCIe 7.0 specification by mid-2025. This standard will increase the raw data transfer rate to 128GT/s, achieving a maximum bidirectional bandwidth of 512GB/s in an x16 configuration, while maintaining compatibility with existing PCIe versions and optimizing energy efficiency and other features.
