Insider sources reveal that Samsung Electronics is currently locked in negotiations regarding the pricing of its latest high-bandwidth memory chip, HBM4. The company is aiming for a unit price in the ballpark of $700, marking a substantial 20% to 30% hike compared to its predecessor, HBM3E. This upward price trend is largely attributed to a surge in market demand. For context, SK Hynix supplied HBM4 to Nvidia at a price point of around $550 per unit last August. However, as production scales up, there's speculation that SK Hynix may also revise its prices upward, potentially aligning them with Samsung's proposed rates. Forecasts suggest that the operating profits for both Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix could soar to an impressive 30 trillion won in the first quarter.
