India is laying out ambitious plans to attain self-sufficiency in the manufacturing of advanced semiconductors over the next few years, aiming to transition from producing 28-nanometer chips to mastering the fabrication of 2-nanometer chips. The Federal Minister of Science and Technology in India emphasized that this endeavor will be a methodical and unhurried process. In pursuit of this objective, India has given the green light to 10 semiconductor projects, backed by a substantial total investment of $18.2 billion. These projects encompass the establishment of two wafer fabrication plants, along with several testing and packaging facilities. Concurrently, India is diligently working towards constructing a comprehensive semiconductor supply chain, employing strategies such as providing subsidies for the manufacturing of electronic components.
