Industry insiders have revealed that SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won recently had a meeting with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang at a fried chicken eatery in California, USA. The purpose of their gathering was to deliberate on the supply of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and explore more extensive AI business collaborations. The discussions primarily centered around the supply strategy for HBM4, a component anticipated to be utilized in NVIDIA's 'Vera Rubin' AI accelerator. As NVIDIA's principal HBM supplier, SK Hynix is advancing with the scheduled mass production of HBM4. While it may not entirely satisfy the entire demand, its dominant position in the market remains unshaken. Its competitor, Samsung, is projected to commence HBM4 production in the latter half of this year. However, the industry consensus forecasts that SK Hynix will persist as NVIDIA's foremost HBM supplier this year, commanding roughly 70% of the HBM4 market share. Furthermore, the two parties delved into potential cooperation within SK Group's AI solutions sector. It has been reported that Chey Tae-won has been conducting a series of meetings with top executives from prominent tech firms in the United States since the start of this month.
