As a key degree of freedom of photons, the polarization state is crucial in fields such as optical communication, signal encryption, and quantum computing. However, the polarization state of semiconductor light-emitting diodes is typically constrained by material crystal symmetry and optical transition rules, making dynamic regulation difficult. Recently, researcher Kai Zhang and project researcher Junyong Wang and their team from the Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, discovered that narrow-bandgap two-dimensional semiconductors with novel band characteristics offer a new approach for dynamically regulating the polarization state of emitted light.
