Western Digital (WD) has completed the spin-off of its flash memory business, transferring all SSD and NAND operations to its subsidiary, SanDisk, while focusing on mechanical hard drive operations. SanDisk has taken over WD's entire solid-state drive product line and continues to operate the joint NAND wafer factory with Kioxia. Among them, the original WD Black SN8100 series SSDs are now reintroduced as the SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 8100 series, positioned as flagship models featuring a PCIe 5.0 interface with sequential read and write speeds of up to 14.9GB/s, albeit at a higher price point. The series includes both standard heatsink and heatsink-free versions, with maximum capacities available up to 8TB, targeting high-end gaming PCs, AI PCs, and workstation users. Additionally, SanDisk has launched the Optimus GX 7100 and Optimus 5100 series, catering to gamers and content creators respectively, to meet the demands of different market segments.
