On February 6, news emerged indicating that Samsung Electronics is gearing up to substantially ramp up the production volume of its sixth - generation (1c) DRAM, which is specifically designed for HBM4 and manufactured using the 10 - nanometer process. This year, the company aims to increase production by around 170%. In pursuit of this ambitious goal, Samsung will install the necessary equipment at its fourth factory located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It is anticipated that by the first quarter of next year, the factory will reach a monthly production level of 100,000 to 120,000 DRAM wafers. This particular production line will be comprehensively outfitted with all the facilities required for manufacturing 1c DRAM for HBM4. For context, at present, Samsung's monthly production capacity for 1c DRAM stands at 70,000 wafers.
