Sources indicate that, as a result of the worldwide memory chip shortage—a situation further intensified by the AI craze—Nvidia will, for the first time in three decades, refrain from launching a new graphics chip tailored for gamers this year. In the meantime, Nvidia has substantially scaled back production of its current-generation gaming chip, namely the GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards. Over the past year, the prices of its new gaming graphics cards have been on the rise owing to supply constraints. An Nvidia spokesperson mentioned that there exists a robust demand from gamers for the GeForce RTX series graphics cards; however, the supply of memory chips remains limited. Without delving into the specifics of the chip launch delay, the spokesperson further noted that the company is still fulfilling product deliveries and is collaborating closely with suppliers to ramp up the supply of memory chips.
