Siemens has officially concluded its acquisition of Canopus AI, a pioneering French semiconductor AI startup. The deal, which was discreetly finalized on January 12, 2026, is valued at an estimated €150 million to €300 million. Established in 2021 in Grenoble, France, Canopus AI has distinguished itself by harnessing machine learning and artificial intelligence to refine semiconductor metrology and inspection workflows, introducing the groundbreaking concept of 'Metrospection.' Its innovative software framework effectively bridges the gap between conventional wafer metrology and inspection technologies. Siemens intends to seamlessly integrate Canopus AI's technology with Calibre's established 'computational lithography' expertise, aiming to deliver comprehensive end-to-end solutions and expedite yield enhancements. The President of Siemens Digital Industries Software emphasized that this acquisition reaffirms the company's dedication to leveraging industrial AI to overcome manufacturing hurdles and reinforces its preeminent stance in the cutting-edge process EDA sector.
