On January 28, the Chinese Academy of Sciences unveiled the recipients of its 2025 Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize. Among the honorees, the Institute of Semiconductors stood out for its groundbreaking work on “Key Technologies and Applications of High-Energy, High-Repetition-Rate Solid-State Lasers,” which earned the Technological Invention Award.
This achievement directly addresses critical needs in two areas: the development of high-energy, high-repetition-rate nanosecond lasers and the advancement of efficient, precision laser manufacturing techniques. Through innovative approaches, the team has overcome key technological barriers, creating a comprehensive suite of technologies protected by independent intellectual property rights. Already implemented across multiple leading enterprises, this work has significantly accelerated localization efforts in the field.
