According to the official announcement from Raspberry Pi, a notable surge in the prices of LPDDR4 memory has prompted the company to implement another round of price increases across several of its product lines. This upward trend in memory prices is primarily attributed to the fierce competition for memory production capacity, which has been intensified by the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure. Such competition has resulted in a constrained memory supply and a consequent spike in costs. Following an initial price hike at the close of the previous year, memory costs continued their upward trajectory in 2026, with some component prices even doubling within the last quarter. Faced with these escalating costs, Raspberry Pi has found it increasingly challenging to sustain its original pricing structure and has, therefore, opted to make the necessary adjustments.
