At a recent dinner with top executives from its supply chain partners, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, emphasized that TSMC must significantly ramp up its production capabilities this year to keep pace with NVIDIA’s soaring demand for wafers. NVIDIA has already commenced full-scale production of its Blackwell chip and is gearing up for the launch of its next-generation Vera Rubin platform. The latter encompasses six cutting-edge chips, all of which hinge heavily on wafer supply and CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate) packaging capacity. Huang projected that over the next decade, TSMC would need to double its current capacity to adequately satisfy the robust demand from customers like NVIDIA.
