On January 26th, China's Top 10 Scientific and Technological Advances in 2025 were announced. Among them, Chinese scientists have made a significant breakthrough in the field of 6G wireless communication by successfully developing an ultra-broadband optoelectronic integrated system, which has achieved, for the first time, full-band, flexible, and tunable high-speed wireless communication. This system was independently developed over four years by a joint team from Peking University and City University of Hong Kong. Its wireless signals can be transmitted at high speeds across any frequency point within the range of 0.5GHz to 115GHz. The system's full-band compatibility capability is internationally leading, and it possesses flexible tunability, enabling dynamic switching to secure frequency bands to establish new communication channels, thereby enhancing communication reliability and spectrum utilization efficiency. In the future, by incorporating AI algorithms, this system will foster more flexible and intelligent AI wireless networks. This achievement is expected to provide a smoother and more reliable foundation for future 6G wireless communication.
