On January 27th, news surfaced indicating that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have struck a deal with Apple, agreeing to substantially hike the prices of LPDDR memory utilized in iPhones during the first quarter of 2026. Samsung is set to increase prices by over 80%, and SK Hynix's price hike is nearing 100%.

The demand for DRAM has soared, largely propelled by the booming AI infrastructure sector. In response, manufacturers have reallocated their production capacity towards High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), which has subsequently tightened the supply of LPDDR.

Apple, at present, has only secured prices for the first half of the year. There's a possibility that prices could climb again when the iPhone 18 Pro is unveiled in the second half of the year.
