Microsoft is gearing up to introduce its second - generation artificial intelligence chip, the Maia 200, in January 2026. This chip is manufactured by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company). Microsoft's move is driven by the ambition to lessen its dependence on NVIDIA and to boost the efficiency of its services. Over time, the Maia 200 chip will be incrementally integrated into Microsoft's data centers. Alongside this, Microsoft will also roll out an open - source software tool named Triton.
