Intel's dominant position in the client and server processor markets is facing severe challenges, with competitor AMD continuously expanding its market share. Data from market research institutions shows that Intel's shipment share in the server market has dropped from 97% in the first quarter of 2019 to 72% in the third quarter of 2025, with revenue share shrinking to 61%. In the client market, Intel's total shipment share has declined to approximately 60%, with its desktop segment share being breached by AMD at over 30%. Leveraging its EPYC series server processors and Ryzen series client processors, AMD has successfully seized market share with advantages in high core counts, energy efficiency, and pricing. Its server market share has surged from less than 2% in 2018 to nearly 30%, with significant growth in data center business revenue. Meanwhile, ARM architecture processors are also steadily penetrating the enterprise market, further diverting market share.
