Compal Electronics, a Taiwan-based contract manufacturer specializing in notebooks and personal computers, has announced that the upward trend in memory chip prices is set to continue until 2027, posing a significant challenge to the entire industry. The company projects a modest single-digit decrease in global notebook and personal computer shipments for the year 2026.
The recent surge in memory chip prices has already reverberated through the consumer electronics sector, prompting a series of price hikes for smartphones, notebooks, and various other products. As a result, downstream manufacturers are grappling with mounting pressure, and there are emerging signs of divergence within the industry.
