Researchers have ingeniously devised a new architecture and spearheaded the effort to realize large-scale integrated circuit manufacturing within polymer fibers, effectively bringing the concept of a 'fiber chip' to life. The pertinent research findings were published in Nature on January 22. At present, the team has made preliminary progress in achieving large-scale production of 'fiber chips' in the laboratory. These chips boast an impressive electronic component integration density of up to 100,000 per square centimeter and are capable of performing a range of functions, including digital and analog circuit operations.
