Intel has officially announced that both the 12th Gen Core Alder Lake processors and the 4th Gen Xeon Sapphire Rapids scalable processors have embarked on the end-of-life journey. Introduced in 2021, the Alder Lake processors marked a significant milestone as the first consumer-grade chips to embrace a hybrid architecture. This innovative design seamlessly integrates high-performance "big" cores with energy-efficient "little" cores, optimizing both power and efficiency. The end-of-life process for Alder Lake will be carried out in a phased manner, with the final shipment slated for January 22, 2027. On the data center front, the Sapphire Rapids processors, also featuring a hybrid architecture, have discontinued accepting new orders starting from September 26, 2025, largely due to underwhelming market reception. The final shipment date for Sapphire Rapids is scheduled for March 31, 2028.
