On January 20, 2026, Feng Yin, the assistant to the president of Gree Electric, disclosed at the Greater Bay Area Compound Semiconductor Ecological Application Conference that following the successful mass production of chips for household appliances, Gree's silicon carbide chip manufacturing facility is poised to commence large-scale production of silicon carbide chips tailored for photovoltaic energy storage systems and logistics vehicles within this year. Earlier, Gree's chairwoman, Dong Mingzhu, had announced that Gree would be responsible for supplying half of GAC's automotive chip requirements in the foreseeable future.
