Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on the X platform that the design of the AI5 chip, used in the company's full self-driving system, has been largely completed and is about to enter mass production, while early research and development of the next-generation AI6 chip has already commenced. Tesla plans to shorten the chip iteration design cycle to 9 months to maintain its technological lead. The AI5 chip will enhance autonomous driving data processing capabilities, support decision-making in complex scenarios, and optimize energy efficiency. The AI6 chip is expected to deliver approximately twice the performance of the AI5 and is projected to enter mass production in mid-2028.
