On Thursday, TSMC unveiled its earnings report, revealing a remarkable 36% year-on-year revenue surge, with projections indicating that its revenue will soar to US$122 billion in 2025. A closer look at the figures shows that revenue from the high-performance computing segment, which encompasses AI chips, witnessed a staggering 48% annual increase. In contrast, the smartphone business experienced a relatively modest 11% growth. Looking ahead, TSMC anticipates its capital expenditures to peak between US$52 billion and US$56 billion in 2026, aiming to keep up with the soaring demand for AI chips. However, it is worth noting that the current tight capacity constraints are unlikely to see any relief in the near future.
