On January 13, 2026 (local time), the United States eased its restrictions on the export of NVIDIA H200 chips to China. However, these exports will now be subject to approval and a security review by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Additionally, the U.S. will impose a fee of roughly 25% on such transactions. President Trump mentioned that this framework would also extend to other AI chip manufacturers. Earlier, the National Internet Information Office had conducted an interview with NVIDIA regarding potential security risks.
