Recently, Professor Yao Daoxin from the School of Physics at Sun Yat-sen University has achieved a significant breakthrough in the theoretical exploration of doping bilayer nickel oxide superconductors with rare earth elements. Focusing on the pivotal issue of how chemical pressure influences the superconducting transition temperature (Tc) in La3Ni2O7, Professor Yao's team has undertaken comprehensive research. Their theoretical work has unveiled the non-monotonic nature of Tc enhancement through rare earth element doping, along with the underlying physical mechanisms at play. Prior to this, the team had already introduced a bilayer two-orbital model and an 11-orbital model, laying a solid groundwork for comprehending the microscopic behavior and superconducting mechanism in nickel-based superconductors.
