Recently, a research team headed by Professor Chen Weijin, from the School of Materials at Sun Yat-sen University and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory for Analysis of Magnetoelectric Properties and Devices, has demonstrated through scanning probe microscopy experiments and phase-field simulations that nanoindentation technology can effectively manipulate the ferroelastic domain configurations and photoelectric response characteristics of BFO thin films. This discovery offers a novel approach for domain engineering and the functional modulation of multiferroic materials.
